What is Hopi Candling?

Thermal Auricular Therapy for natural ear and sinus comfort

Hopi Candling, also known as Thermal Auricular Therapy, is a gentle, pleasant, and deeply relaxing non-invasive treatment for the ears. It is an ancient, natural therapy handed down by historical civilisations and popularized in the modern world by the Native American Hopi Indians.

The "candles" used are actually hollow tubes woven from premium natural ingredients, typically including pure beeswax, honey extracts, flax, and traditional soothing herbs like sage, chamomile, and St. John’s Wort.

Please Note: Hopi Candling is a complimentary therapy designed to work alongside conventional care. It should not be used if you have a perforated eardrum, grommets, active ear infections, or recent ear surgery. Do not alter any medical treatments prescribed by your healthcare provider without advice.

What to expect during a Hopi Candling session

During the session, you lie comfortably on your side with your head supported by a pillow. The specialized hollow candle is placed gently just inside the outer ear canal opening to form a comfortable seal. The opposite end of the tube is then lit.

As the candle burns, it acts like a chimney. The warming air creates a soft, subtle vacuum effect that stimulates secretion flow and helps draw looser impurities toward the surface. Throughout the process, you will experience a deeply soothing warmth and a pleasant, gentle crackling sound as the flame flickers.

Both ears are treated during a standard session. Afterwards, it is highly recommended to rest quietly for a short period and stay well-hydrated to allow your sinus and facial areas to settle.
